“fuck you” to the stereotypes of hearts and flowers!"

We meet Nadine the girl who has took body mod to the next level and ask how she is received in society.   

YOU’RE OBVIOUSLY HEAVILY TATTOOED IN 3 BLACKWORK WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS GENRE?   

As cliche as it sounds, I genuinely fell in love with it, just how bold and in your face it can be yet so subtle in design, I also love the fact it was made feminine for me, but also a big “fuck you” to the stereotypes of hearts and flowers! Those tattoos I could never ever see on myself.   

WHEN DID THE PROCESS START? 

I started getting tattooed at 18, and started blackwork at 21!     

YOU’RE ALSO INTO THE BODY MODIFICATION AND SCARIFICATION SIDE OF THINGS TELL US WHAT YOU HAVE HAD DONE, WHAT YOU PLAN FOR THE FUTURE AND THE HEALING PROCESS. 

So I have had scarification on my head and face, I have had my tongue split into two and I have also had the top of the cartilage of my ears cut off! I think my next body modification is scarring my sleeve with a design! The healing process for them all was actually quite quick but brutal. With the modifications I flew to Europe and back, so putting the miles in whilst bandaged up was not fun. I would say the worst one for healing is scarification as you have to put citric acid in the wound to settle the scars, honestly it’s the definition of a whitey.   

WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE ENAMORED WITH TAT- TOO ART? SPECIFICALLY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE POP- ULARITY OF SOCIAL MEDIA, TATTOOED MODELS HAVE BECOME INCREASINGLY POPULAR. WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS? WHAT IS THE ATTRACTION? DEEP HUMAN NEED TO CHANGE EVERYTHING AROUND US, INCLUDING OUR OWN SKIN OR JUST A LOVE OF BEAUTY? 

I think everyone is attracted to what’s different, they want to know why and what were your motivations, I think some people believe we live this ultimate “fuck life” attitude most of the time, but that's so far from the truth. People are also inquisitive as we have had the balls to do maybe what they have been a little scared to pursue?  

WHO DO YOU LOOK TO PAST OR PRESENT FOR INSPIRATION? 

I don’t think anything inspires me in all honesty, I think having the little creative sessions with my artist Cammy is when I’m truly inspired and excited about new tattoo’s, mans got skill!     

WHAT ADVISE WOULD YOU GIVE TO PEOPLE WANTING TO GET TATTOOED ESPECIALLY THE FACE?   

Just don’t be stupid. Expect to be treated different, expect negativity and don’t be offended by people who are dicks, gotta just except it. I’d also say be sure of your choice because it’s your face, but it’s not all negative, I’ve met and had some amazing experiences from my artwork.   

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE ASPIRATIONS? 

Honestly I have no clue but I’d like to show tattoos in bold extreme are- as that are not the end of the world and just enjoy whatever comes my way, I’m easily pleased in life.   

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? 

Gym is a big thing for me it keeps me sane when I’m stressed, also just going to gigs and making memories and just having a good time!   

WHAT HAVE BEEN TH MOST PAINFUL PEICE OF WORK YOU HAVE HAD SO FAR? 

Most painful tattoo was my groin lady area! In- tense is one way to explain it, I had to walk about with a cling film make shift nappy for a week, it was awful!   

YOU HAVE RECENTLY STARTED TO DO SOME MODELLING AND JOINED THE WOODSTOCK MODELS 

I never expected any of it and honestly I’ve loved every second so if I get the chance definitely.
